Metallica, Motörhead, Corey Taylor e Tenacious D sono tra gli artisti che parteciperanno ad un tribute album dedicato a Ronnie James Dio.
L’album, dal titolo This Is Your Life, è previsto in uscita il 31 marzo ed è composto da una lineup stellare intenta a proporre cover di canzoni del defunto frontman heavy metal, morto di cancro nel 2010.
Ronnie James Dio, nella sua lunga carriera, ha collaborato con diversi gruppi tra cui Elf, Rainbow, Black Sabbath, Heaven & Hell e Dio.
L’album servirà a raccogliere fondi per il Ronnie James Dio Stand Up and Shout Cancer Fund ed è stato prodotto dal suo manager e della moglie Wendy Dio.
Tra gli altri artisti che compaiono nel tribute album ci sono anche Scorpions, Anthrax, Rob Halford e Killswitch Engage.
L’album si chiude con Ronnie James Dio stesso che esegue una versione per pianoforte di This Is Your Life, originariamente contenuta in Angry Machines del 1996.
Il Ronnie James Dio Stand Up and Shout Cancer Fund raccoglie fondi per la TJ Martell Foundation for Cancer, AIDS e Leukemia Research e per il MD Anderson Cancer Center di Houston, dove Dio è stato curato per un cancro allo stomaco.
